Vox Vitae - Voicing Life

Welcome. My name is Johan du Toit. I am an educator, writer, and witness. I live and work in Ukraine, where classrooms continue in shelters when sirens sound and children carry books into mornings shadowed by drones. My writing grows from this soil: reflections on faith that steadies in storms, on memory as a discipline that refuses silence, on the fragile strength of hope.

The reflection here comes from a story of family and faith, shaped by the weight of history and a teaching philosophy learned across continents. These are fragments from a journey, offered not as headlines but as testimony, the simple act of putting pen to paper when the world’s noise grows loud.

This space is not for clamour, but for the slower work of memory and meaning. My mother loved the promise that “in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.” That verse returns often here, as it did for her. May these words offer the same stillness, an anchor in the storm, a reminder that resilience grows not from striving but from trust. You are invited to linger, to read, and to share in that quiet strength.
